The Fun of The Fair

Dear Bloggers,

At the moment Sydney is having it's annual Royal Easter Show, an extravaganza of agricultural displays and events, animals, show bags, rides and junk food. You can go and watch woodchopping, horse riding, dog judging, see arts and crafts and then go on a ride and spin yourself silly. This time around I chose to photograph other people spinning in the air at twilight as all the lights of the carnival rides came on.

Ok, lets go home...

Under The Pier

Dear Bloggers,

Happy Easter. Peace and love to you wherever you are.

On my photographic journey I have found that it pays to look forward, look behind and also to look under...as in under the pier where I found the most beautiful reflections of light on water.

Have a good weekend,

Angel Place

There's a little lane way off to the side of one of Sydney's main streets. It is called Angel Place and on it is a Recital Hall. There's also a cafe with a very eye catching decoration to catch the eye of the passer by, birdcages strung on wire netting.

Zygopetalum Mackayi

Years ago I bought a little orchid at a stall outside a supermarket at the local shopping centre when I was living up north in Queensland. Later a colleague who is very much into orchids told me it is relatively rare, difficult to get to flower and originally came from Southern Brazil. All I know is that it is beautiful, tempermental, flowers once every three years or so or when it feels like it, has an unusual combination of colours and a lovely subtle scent.

It lives on my balcony in the shade of some other plants. It's loving the strange warm steamy rainy Autumn we are having..

Have a good week,

Reflected Face

A walk down a city street ... with camera of course. I see a very interesting shop window at right angles to the footpath facing a little lane. Get out the camera. Check my settings. Click click. At home when I uploaded my pictures I saw cubes, I saw the glasses, then I saw the face of a passerby, unwittingly captured.

Have a happy weekend everybody. I'll be linking to Weekend Reflections #236

Mosaics, Stained glass and Wrought iron lace

I had some business to do in the centre of Sydney this morning and in the afternoon as I was walking through the Queen Victoria Building link to google images  (a heritage building that was made into a shopping gallery) it occurred to me that some of the beautiful features that I have seen many times may be interesting to others. It's a common sight to see tourists photographing every aspect of this building so here is a bit of it..

I love architecture. Modern as well as Victorian, ancient castles to glass towers, you name it .. but somewhere along the way modern became a synonym for 'we can't afford to have non functional detail' and that's a pity.
